The Potato Chip Thread... and beyond

  • Quote of the Day - "Do your job" ~ Bill Belichick

I just bought and tried with lunch (well, a halved avocado filled with peanut butter... but it were still "lunch" to me) a bag of these crisps.

(Sorry. This was the best link I could find on the World Wild Webs. Their actual web-site stinks.)

Very interesting! These are tasty and would be a great snack for anyone that is doing the gluten-free stuff.

I will probably check out a few of their other flavours in the future.

PopCorners® ~ Smokehouse BBQ Flavored

This was a new flavour of theirs for me. It was another really good one, too. I can't say that I have ever had barbecued popcorn before, but it works.

My favourite flavour is still the Sea Salt. I honestly go through at least a bag a week of those. They are excellent with dips or just straight out of the bag.

I like the sound of the Smokehouse BBQ Flavoured. They look like Doritos.

(... and yet still another month has passed without anyone adding to this thread... c'mon, potato chips are Life!)

Keogh's
Irish Potato Chips ~ Truffle and Irish Butter

I have had many different flavours of "crisps" from this company and they all have been very good. I liked the combination of butter and truffles (it was a lot more butter-forward, but melded well with the black truffle powder).

The only thing I could have done without was the added sugar as an ingredient. It is totally unnecessary.

These can usually only be found at British or
Irish import stores, but I found these today at a Ukrainian-owned import store in my neighbourhood.

First I heard of Irish Potato Chips. Glad you enjoyed them, Harpo.

For a pre-Thanksgiving meal snack, I had picked up a small bag of Planters ~ Cashews - Rosemary & Sea Salt.

These turned out to be a very tasty snack. If you like
cashews and rosemary (I am a HUGE fan of both), you really need to do yourself a flavour and buy a bag of these.

Cashews with Rosemary and Sea Salt sounds delicious. I would try that.

I remember Planter's cashews when I was a kid. You could not just eat one.

Yeah, I ate about half the bag before I even had my "Thanksgiving Dinner".

Well, my "turkey" was simply a sliced Tofurky sandwich (it was their Hickory Smoked version, at least; and I made it into a very interesting grilled cheese sandwich with two slices of Havarti and an awesome Champagne-Maple Syrup-Mustard).

I didn't have any pumpkin pie, either. I probably would have eaten a whole pie for my dinner.

That is a good combination with grilled cheese.

Better to eat the pie in moderation.

(What is wrong with you people?! It has been over a month since a new chip post here!)

This is a new flavour of Pop-Corners for me:
Jalapeño Popper.

These are very good like most all of their other flavours that I have tried. These taste just like
jalapeño poppers... if jalapeño poppers were made with popcorn, I suppose.

The only flavour I really was not enamoured with was Spicy
Queso. I guess those are okay, but not tasty enough for me to buy again... and again... and again... The only flavour I have left to try is Cinnamon Crunch (and I am sure I will like that one a lot, too).

My ranking of their flavours, thus far:
1) Sea Salt (these are simply great! ~ plain outta the bag or as a dipper-chipper; I easily go through a bag a week)
2) Kettle Corn (for a sweet-salty taste)
3) Sweet Chili
4)
Jalapeño Popper
5)
Smokehouse BBQ
6)
White Cheddar
7) Spicy Queso

Jalapeno is good. The Sweet Chili sounds good as well.

Calling all @Robbie's:

You must have a favourite flavour/brand of crisps. Let us know!

The Sweet Chili is really not very spicy at all (and neither is the Jalapeno Popper); there is some picanteness (as to be expected), but nothing to blow your top with. These make another great dipping chip in either hummus or a good salsa.

Chips tend not to be so spicy as to burn your mouth.

Can't go wrong in having a hummus or salsa on the side.
