love the ending...... i wonder if some alien species that could wipe us all out in the blink of an eye, orbiting our planet right now in a cloaked ship, is laughing hysterically at all this. Like we would be amused watching two ants wrestle over a grain of sugar.

This is going to be a long Fking 4 years 😖.
there will be no endpoint of this....... i seriously doubt we are getting a "do over" in 4 years. Russia has elections. they are a sham. i expect us to have an election, but it will be a sham. voter supression and intimidation will be the new national standard. expect many federal laws to change. they will limit early voting, absentee voting, make massivly long lines in urban areas so people don't bother...... etc etc........ now they they have all the power, they will make sure they don't lose it.

Interesting random fact... it's the first time the incumbent party has lost three elections in a row since 1884-1892. That was also the last time a president won two non-consecutive terms (Grover Cleveland)

This is the last thing I'll say on the election. The democrats need to learn (and quickly) that it's not enough to run a campaign where the bulk of the 'plan' is to scream about how terrible the other side/candidate is, however true it may be.

My party here in the UK took years to realise this. For example, in 2019 the Labour party spent most of the election period saying "don't vote for Boris, he doesn't care about you and he'll wreck everything!" which led to a Boris landslide. This year they ran a campaign offering actual change, competence and a show of empathy about how tough times have been with inflation and wage growth, which led to them winning a 170 seat majority.

I know there's a lot more to it on top of this, especially in a country as diverse as the US, but I think it's important at a basic level at least.

Also, this...

So when all the folks who voted for Trump because they are upset about inflation and the cost of living, only for that to get worse because of his pending policies... who do we think gets the blame? Immigrants? Trans people? The wokey left? The deep state? Santa?

I’m afraid it’s going to be a change for the worse. Any room at your house?
You wouldn't want the Carbon Tax in Canada. Tax on everything like food, utilities, gas (the one in your car, not out of you know where:ROFLMAO:). Canadians are taxed to death. I'm glad the U.S. does not have that. All it does is eat into families' budgets.

You guys will be fine:).

There was some good news from the events of the past week. Several states voted to protect abortion rights for women. It's still outright banned in 13 states, but it's something at least.

"But gender did play a role. Time and again, voters, very often women themselves, told me that they just didn’t think that “America is ready for a female president”. People said they couldn’t “see her in the chair” and asked if I “really thought a woman could run the country”. One person memorably told me that she couldn’t vote for Harris because “you don’t see women building skyscrapers”. Sometimes, these people would be persuaded, but more often than not it was a red line. Many conversations would start with positive discussions on policy and then end on Harris and her gender. That is an extraordinary and uncomfortable truth."

As I said the other day... this country will NEVER elect a woman. Let alone a black one. When even a certain amount of women are so deep in the misogyny that voting for a woman is off the table from the very start, it just becomes that much more daunting to find a path to enough votes to win.
