I think as much as many middle of the road Republicans don't necessarily care for the priorities of the Democratic Party, I think Project 2025 and the plans to completely dismantle the government and move us solidly into a more Authoritarian type setup scares the hell out of them as much as it does anyone on the left. That was crafted specifically with someone too self-centered and dim-witted as Trump in mind, who would blindly go along with it if his ego was stroked enough in the process. The most radical fringes of the far right in the US have latched onto Trump's coattails as he commands his cult following, hoping to seize power through him. Hopefully there are still enough sane people to prevent something like that from happening.
