So... since 2020 will be a rather big year in politics, especially in the US, I thought we needed a thread! Especially since there likely won't be much else to talk about...

I'm cool with any kind of debate here, no matter what part of the political spectrum you sit, but please don't get personal. No need for that.

My expertise in American politics isn’t great. That said, I do know one thing and that is fuck Donald Trump.

I think guarantee family income might come next. In a national emergency the unemployment picture looks bleak.

So is this where we should post about Trump and how much we despise him? This may be my favorite new thread!

I think that Mitt Romney wanted a guarantee income for each family in times of crises. I think our nation will change in the future for economic security.

Even the Mayor of LA decided to add debit cards for the poor to help them go through the coronavirus.

My mind is still blown away at that circus yesterday......God help us.

Glad to hear Gov Baker joined forces with Cuomo and other Governors in the Northeast.

Oh good. I only saw the announcement of the other states banding together, but MA was part of the original list. Glad they are now. That's the only way things are going to get done properly.

I actually tweeted at Governor Whitmer in Michigan and asked her to open up discussions with the west coast alliance (CA/OR/WA) and that was before i ever heard about the east coast alliance. There is no coordination of efforts or plans for how to handle a reopening of the country on the Federal level and i think the governors need to leave the Feds behind and come up with a plan themselves.

i gave up watching the press briefings because they are nothing more than political rallies now. for a while at the beginning when Brix and fauci were giving useful info there was something to listen to but now that they have become popular drumpf is jealous and is cutting their time, or only letting them speak to backpedal criticisms of drumpf.

Most of the networks are cutting away now as well since there is no relevant information coming out and they need to actually report real news.

Yup, I think there are 6 states in the Northeast that are working together. Not sure if NH is in there but it should be.

He gave a powerpoint presentation about himself yesterday. Unreal. CNN broke away and just went back for the press questions which was disgraceful.

He is a monster.

He literally had a meltdown and I think the only thing that could be a positive in this is that people saw him for who he is and will go out and vote against him.

oh you didn't hear? The POTUS has total authority over everything! When asked 'since when"?

"Since I said so"

Yup!

He's been trying to act like a dictator for a while now. Unfortunately the vast majority of the Republican Party is willing to go along with that and allow him to act that way for their own political expediency. None of them have the guts to stand up and say "This is wrong" even though that desperately needs to happen.

Maybe the Supreme Court election in Wisconsin will shake them awake a bit, and make them realize that their ability to gerryrig the election isn't as great as they think, and tying themselves to the sinking ship Trump isn't going to be a winning strategy.
