Deserves it's own thread...
Quote of the day - "When you go into court you are putting your fate into the hands of twelve people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty" ~ Norm Crosby
Nothing like dangling a carrot. When in doubt, follow the money trail. While I am positively sure (is there an eye-roll emoji here) that Shohei is as innocent as say... O.J. Simpson was... I just wonder if double that $4.5M would make Mizuhara take the fall, even if it might include a little slammer-time.
Ohtani's interpreter will never hold a job or own a house ever again.
If he gets 10 years will he roll over? Inquiring minds want to know.Ippei Mizuhara is pleading guilty to multiple charges and likely to be facing 7-10 years in federal prison.
Ippei Mizuhara, ex-interpreter for baseball star Shohei Ohtani, will plead guilty in betting case
Prosecutors alleged Ippei Mizuhara stole nearly $17 million from the Japanese baseball player to pay off debts.apnews.com
Money talks. There are nine transactions withdrawn from your bank account in the million dollar category and you are not aware of it? No way. Ohtani knew about it.Of course, I can not say whether Ohtani is to blame in any of this, but if he were, you just know MLB is backing him all the way. Maybe Mizuhara was offered A WHOLE LOTTA money (even more than the $4.5 M he supposably took) from the powers that be MLB to take the fall. The money will still be there and waiting in 7-10 years, after all. They do not want their Golden Boy to look bad in any of this.
(Okay, so maybe I do think Ohtani is really to blame... )
Yeah, but I am sure he will be blackballed and never be able to work as a translator ever again...Money talks. There are nine transactions withdrawn from your bank account in the million dollar category and you are not aware of it? No way. Ohtani knew about it.
I agree, Harpo. MLB does not want the golden boy to look bad. The Interpreter takes the money (it probably was in the millions) and I bet he is out of prison in half the time.
Unless he catches a break and someone gives him a second chance.Yeah, but I am sure he will be blackballed and never be able to work as a translator ever again...
