My brother (who is also a long-time RED SOX fan, but now lives in Floridia, in Mouseland, and does like those Ray Devils, too) thinks the Good Guys will only go 82-80 this year. I figure them for more wins than that, probably 86-88 (hopefully more) and that they will make the Playoffs (Shaddup, Jim!) this year.

If they stay mostly healthy... there's no reason why the Sox shouldn't win 90+ games. That's a big 'if' though.

Goes some way towards explaining why he seemed to be holding out for the Red Sox then.

Just found out he has a charity called 'Bregman Cares' which provides support for children with autism.

Ok, I officially love him already.

He should get together with Doug Flutie.
Flutie has done amazing things for autism.......I have a close friend who sent both autistic sons to a school here in Framingham, MA that is dedicated to children with autism and it has been remarkable for them. Flutie was very instrumental in getting the funds for the programs they offer there.
Doug's son went there as well.

With the Bregman signing, someone is bound to be expendable. We may have our answer.

Sadly, Devers can be expendable. He's not a big enough Superstar to make these demands.

Based on Cora's response, he seems to feel the same way.
I trust he will handle it properly though.

Actually he is. It’s kind of surprising how meager of an opinion many Sox fans have of him. In the position by position rankings MLB network made of all MLB players, done by all their MLB TV and Radio people, Devers was ranked the #2 current 3B in the game. Now granted that was overwhelmingly because of his offense but he IS that good offensively to make up for the defense.

Well, I am no fan of divas. If he thinks he is too good to play 1B or DH... it was nice knowin' ya, kid, but... buh-bye!

I don't think he's that great at 3B (Defensively) as it is, but someone had to fill the spot. Trust me, he has as much chance of winning a Gold Glove at 3B as he would at 1B.

In a perfect world, at some point this season we'd see...

CF Jarren Duran
SS Trevor Story
DH Rafael Devers
3B Alex Bregman
1B Triston Casas
RF Wilyer Abreu
2B Kristian Campbell
LF Roman Anthony
C Connor Wong

I think that's what Cora and the FO are envisioning going forward. Pending health and the kids hitting of course.

The problem is if he’s as bad at 1B as he is at 3B he can drag the rest of the IF down with him. If his footwork is constantly messed up and he’s not able to stretch properly for throws, or can’t adjust on off-line throws or ones in the dirt that’s going to be a lot of plays that don’t get made that should be. And if the team does something incredibly stupid like trading away Casas with the idea Devers will primarily play 1B and he is terrible there you have no backup plan.

They’ve lived with Devers at 3B for 7 years. It may not be a perfect defensive alignment but I think he gets far too much of the brunt of the complaints for some of the defensive woes of the entire team lately.
