  • Quote of the Day - "Do your job" ~ Bill Belichick

So I'm trying to get fitter and healthier and I have recently changed my diet. I've lost about 15lbs so far since new year. I've lost weight before but not in the best ways... so it quickly went back on. This time because I've completely changed diet I also feel a lot better, I never feel hungry and even mentally I feel sharper and more focused.

I'm not really the gym type.. so I've signed up to do some dance classes starting next week. I'm doing jazz and tap for an hour each on Thursdays. Feel like that'll get my fitness really going lol They did try and sign me up for their adult ballet class too... but I lost my bottle on that (for now) hah... I would imagine it's great for posture etc though.

That is great news! You're losing weight the right way.....the reason diets are a multi billion dollar industry is because they FAIL!
People lose weight then they have to go back on.
So many people just don't know how to eat.
Protein Protein Protein and whole foods, fruit, veggies, healthy grains.
(Nobody gets fat from eating fruit despite what some diets tell you.
Any kind of movement is good. I have been lifting weights a lot when I used to be a cardio junkie.
Now, I've really reduced the cardio and enjoy the weights and yoga. Yoga is more for my mind but it's also good for the body.

I learned to line dance in Dallas....didn't think I'd like it but it was a lot of fun!

All good stuff Phil........keep it going!

Yes exactly... eating the right things is absolutely the vital part.

Probably helps too that I've felt a lot less stressed in the last few months... hard to explain it but after Robbie's mum died, I think I was just in a weird sort of state of shock and felt like I was under pressure being a lone parent to him. I used to really genuinely be terrified about what would happen if something happened to me... and was only recently I realised that stressing about that wasn't helping (obviously) so now I'm just focusing on things I can control... ala my own health.

Anyway, I'm waffling now... so time to put the Sox game on lol

i put on about ten pounds over the holidays but i've lost 5 of them lol stopped snacking at night. also found some zero sugar drinks at the grocery store i'm buying now. i walk about 20 minutes a day at lunch including doing 14 flights of stairs up and down to get my heart rate up.

biggest thing was quitting soda about 15 years ago maybe? I lost about 20 lbs almost immediately when i quit that.

I am still trying to regain the 10-15 pounds that I lost back in October after a (losing) bout with COVID. I weigh less today than I did forty years ago.

Ok I watched the first episode of the Netflix thing... first thoughts so far..

- Brayan Bello is a lovely kid
- Raquel Ferreira is ace
- Triston Casas is even more out there than I thought... and maybe not in a good way... yikes... I get the sense players really hate reaching 1B and having to listen to him hah
- Craig Breslow is even more of a nerd than it seems lol
- Kutter Crawford is the most chill guy on the team
- Tyler O'Neill is a true pro and I can't help but feel like we miss a guy like him this year (and his daughter is adorable)
- I'd forgotten just how utterly brutal that Story injury was... jeez

I need to watch this.
I'm worried about Casas. Some of the guys were talking about him on WEEI this AM and they said behind the scenes, he's a big distraction to the team. Perhaps moving him down the order (which was the right thing to do) made him worse.
Can Roman Anthony play 1B?

I'm through 3 episodes now... and yeah I get the sense that Casas would be a real grind to be around, especially for a long baseball season. The look on Joe Castiglione's face when Casas had the mic on ESPN that night said everything lol

Loved the Cam Booser bit, great story. I was delighted for him last year knowing what he'd been through, but seeing his reaction to getting the call and hugging his family after his first game was awesome.

Andrew Bailey's little boy was awesome too when he asked him...

"Do you think we'll make the playoffs?"

"I hope so, we'll do our best"

"That wasn't the question... I said do you think we'll make the playoffs"

Clever kid lol

i haven't seen it yet but i'm wondering if Casas has and maybe he's bothered thinking he's not liked? Maybe that's why he's struggling so bad?

Maybe... he's just such a complex guy to work out.

Also interesting so far is that Jarren Duran seems like the most relatable guy on the team. I've not gotten to the part when his discusses his mental health and suicide attempt yet, but just his general day to day being. I feel like if I was going to get along well with any of these players, it would be him.

I haven't watched it either......I did see the clip of Booser getting the nod.
Love the story about Bailey's kid.....he might be a good sports reporter some day.

As for Casas.....from what the guys were saying this AM, his priority is more about getting attention and less about winning.
They were comparing Crochet who probably didn't sleep because he gave up that one hit. Then you have Casas who didn't get a hit and gave up a costly error......Casas just gets more quirky and he probably slept just fine.

Ok I've seen the Duran episode now... bloody hell. I wanted to give him a hug.

Also... his bromance with Justin Turner.. love it. Seeing JT with a little smile in the Jays dugout when Duran hit the walkoff against them was awesome.
