Round 1 • Pick 4 (4)
see all

The Patriots offensive line needs a guy on the edge who can lock it down, and Campbell does just that. He was an absolute beast in the SEC week in and week out. With firm hands and a good base, the technical Campbell puts on a clinic in pass protection. He has room for improvement in the run game, but the Patriots are setting Drake Maye up for success with this pick. -- Bucky Brooks

Drake Maye impressed in his rookie season despite playing behind what Pro Football Focus categorized as the worst offensive line in the NFL, so it would be fun to see what the young passer could do behind a group closer to league average. New England should be all about building a supporting cast for Maye, who would also benefit from better weaponry at the skill positions. -- by Dan Parr

I like all 4 picks so far. Just some really solid players coming in, with some instant talent added to the offense.

After making a consensus selection with the fourth overall pick in the draft, the Patriots’ second-round pick wasn’t as easy of a decision.

Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf shared that there was a bit of a disagreement between head coach Mike Vrabel, vice president of player personnel Ryan Cowden, director of player personnel Matt Groh, and executive Alonzo Highsmith, among others, on who the team should have picked at No. 38 entering Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft. However, one of the players the group debated over was drafted before the Patriots were on the clock, helping to clear the runway to select running back TreVeyon Henderson.

There will be a kicker competition in New England this offseason.

With their first pick in the sixth round, the Patriots drafted kicker Andres Borregales out of Miami with pick 182. Mike Vrabel’s team made Borregales the first kicker selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Patriots NFL Draft needs

  • Offensive line: With Maye poised to hold the reins of New England's offense for the next decade, the Patriots would do well to find sentries who can protect him in the pocket. Maye's 9.14% sack rate was the fifth-highest mark in the league, trailing only Deshaun Watson, Will Levis, Caleb Williams, and Jalen Hurts. If New England wants Maye to make a splash as a sophomore, it should invest in its offensive line.
  • Wide receiver: Maye's maiden season proved all the more impressive because he was lacking anything resembling a No. 1 option at the X. Demario Davis was the Pats' leading wide receiver in 2024, corralling a paltry 621 yards. If you want to get the best out of a hurler, you have to surround them with pass-catching talent. New England should attempt to acquire some in this year's draft.
  • EDGE: Vrabel's return to Beantown should precipitate a defense-first mindset, and New England will certainly look to upgrade its pass rush at some point in the draft.
