Not surprised. No Bourne for a month and that line is horrendous so sitting Maye to start is the smart thing to do. Even if not the fun decision

Yeah agreed... let the kid get a feel for the day to day regular season things for a few weeks, see if they can get the oline to be just 'bad' rather than awful.

If I'm Jacoby, I'm putting a few extra layers of padding on... Those first 4 games especially have the potential to be very painful... Nick Bosa in the 4th game might get Maye a starting job for game 5

Yeah, get those 4 games out of the way and reevaluate. Not starting week 1 isn’t going to hurt Maye’s development but starting behind that line as it currently is certainly could. Some of the best QB’s ever didn’t start week 1, including the GOAT, whoever people think that realistically is.
