I think that the Mets will overpay to sign him. But they are losing Alonso, who I think will go to the Y*nkee$.
If that happens it’s not really a wash for the Y*nkee$. Adding a 3rd right handed hitting power bat to Judge and Stanton doesn’t help them much. That’s why Soto fit well with them, even though they didn’t set up the lineup properly with Soto between Judge and Stanton.

I've read 2 preliminary sources say Red Sox, Orioles, and Dodgers are top teams suiting Teoscar Hernandez.

No surprises there. I would be shocked if he picked the O's though given what they did a couple of years ago to the left field fence. That's not an easy place to hit for a right handed hitting power hitter to play.

I still don't want him. Entering the off-season if anyone sat down and assessed the Red Sox and made a list of team needs over the winter to get the team back to competing for the AL East division, nowhere on that list would have been a power hitting left handed OFer. And I absolutely reject the notion of "if you can get a player like that you sign him and figure out how to fit him into your lineup" because that's complete nonsense. At no time has taking that approach to building a team ever worked.

Nor do I. For the money he’ll be getting we could pick up some pitching.
Soto is not worth that money. You know some team will overpay him.

I am thinking he will either end up with the Dodgers or Y*nkee$.

the red sox could certainly contain soto but it means a LOT more work because you are going to have to trade probably at least 3-4 lefties off the MLB and/or AAA rosters to get more RH hitting and ANY kind of pitching. and the more trades you make the more you are likely to bomb on some of them. i think best case scenario is soto goes to the mets which immidiately helps the red sox by hurting the Y*nkee$, and we don't have to face him anymore lol

I just have this uneasy feeling that Tom Warner is sticking his nose in things the same way the late Larry Lucchino used to, pushing for the "splash" move to "excite the fan base" and spur ticket sales, when those things should NEVER factor into player personnel decisions. It still surprises me to some extent that these guys can have owned this team for over 2 decades now and still not understand the fan base and what they react to at all. Fans haven't been losing interest because there are no big names on the team, they've been losing interest because the team hasn't been winning. They didn't make any "splash" moves before the 2021 season, but fans showed up for it because the team played well and was winning. Build a strong team, focus on the areas the team has needs and fill them, and the fans will back it.

Carlos Baerga (so take that for what its worth, rumorewise. Probably worth nothing lol) says the Mets offered Soto $660 million. No mention of years.

That's utterly insane lol

I would definitely take it with a pinch of salt because from what I've been reading about the meetings so far, there haven't been any numbers exchanged at all yet, it's all been just wooing so far.

We shall see, I guess

Well that amount over 15 years works out to $44M per year, which would top what Judge got by $4M per year.

I've read that the Sox have both Snell and Crochet on their radar with significant interest.

Based on the number of very good options both via trade and free agency and also on Breslow's comments about being a bit more assertive this year... I'd be very surprised if we didn't end up with one of the top end pitchers this winter
