Probably a good time to start this... not long now until the offseason kicks off (hopefully only 3 more games... heh)

Here's Lucas Giolito hanging around with Max Fried...

...and here's Giolito talking about his pal Max Fried... lol

Wondering what people’s thoughts are on Fried. He’s had a couple of arm issues the past couple of years but seems fairly solid. Adding a good lefty to the rotation wouldn’t be a bad thing.

I am all for Max Fried being signed by the Red Sox. A good arm and solid innings.

So here’s another question. Max Fried or Walker Buehler?

Different ends of the scale really... Fried is gonna take plenty of $$$ and years, Buehler will be getting much shorter 'prove-it' type deals I would have thought.

I would have thought that too before Buehler’s last 2 starts in the postseason. He’s increased his stock substantially with those outings. Not equal to Fried but a lot more than it was.

How about this scenario, the Sox sign Buehler to a shorter term deal and then trade Mayer, Abreu, Crawford and Chase Meidroth to Chicago for Crochet.

Refsnyder accepts his role as a right handed hitting platoon outfielder, and generally does it well. And even if things broke in a way were the Sox didn't need him on the roster he's pretty easy to move to another team because of those facts.

The only problem I have with it is it perpetuates the platooning of young lefty hitting OFers without ever giving them a chance to show if they can handle hitting lefty pitching.

I can't see the Sox being all that interested. They have enough lefty hitting OFers, and needs in other areas that the money should go to. And honestly I don't think Soto is worth what he will receive. He's a great player, but I just don't see him as a generational type one at all. I definitely don't want to see the Sox tying up the amount of money it would take to sign him for what he brings to the table.

I like Soto but don't want him on the Sox. We need pitching and RH power bat.
He's either going to NYY or Mets.

Yeah, the Sox focus needs to be on guys like Snell, Burnes, or Fried. If they want to sign a second starter I'd go for someone like Buehler on a one year pillow contract as he tries to re-establish value after his TJ surgery.

Then for the pen KC is supposedly willing to trade lefty reliever Kris Bubic for offensive help. I'd look to see if they can work out a deal around Abreu for him. I think Roman Anthony is going to be better than Abreu, although I think given the difference in controllable years for each Abreu one for one for Bubic is probably an overpay on the Sox part.

I'd definitely be ready to 'sell high' on Abreu.
