So given where the roster sits here on Groundhog Day, here's an attempt at what the Opening Day roster might be for the Sox barring any late additions:

Looking at this one thing that jumps out at me is the lack of left handed pitching. Only one pitcher on that entire roster is a lefty, Bernardino. Make me wish the team could work out a deal with Miami for Jesus Luzardo, maybe a package of Crawford, Dalbec and Yorke could get it done? Probably wishful thinking on my part, but a left handed starter to put in with the other 4 right handed ones would look a lot better. Of course if Slaten doesn't work out (he's a rule 5 pick we acquired in a trade with the Mets, so subject to rule 5 limitations) that opens another pen spot likely for Chris Murphy.

So, looking at what Starting Pitchers are on the current Roster, are we to assume that Lucas Giolito is the "Ace" of the Staff? I am not dissing Lucas any here, it just seems a little light for a #1 Starter.

Yes, but if you looked across the entire league and tried to find 30 starters who are clear “Ace” level guys I think you’d be hard pressed to list that many, so the notion that every team can even have a true Ace is not really accurate. Would it be nice to have at least one of the guys who does fit that description? Sure. But it is what it is.

That’s the issue. Everyone else in the league knows exactly who he is as a player and don’t value it much.
