So let's try and jump start this thread to discuss possible moves for the team over the winter. It's rumored that the White Sox will still listen for offers on Dylan Cease this winter. How about this for a proposal:
Red Sox send Kutter Crawford, Nick Yorke, David Hamilton and a lower "lottery ticket" type pitcher to Chicago.
White Sox send Cease to Boston.

It seems like a fair deal to me. They get a more controllable pitcher with some upside potential, a highly rated 2B prospect, a young player who cracked the majors this past year who can play in the middle infield and a wild card type player. If they don’t see themselves realistically being in a position to be competitive in the next couple of years that’s a pretty good potential return for 2-3 years from now.

That is certainly the exact sort of trade the Sox should be looking to try and do, whoever the next CBO is.

Justin Turner declines his player option and the Sox decline their team option on Corey Kluber. Both are now free agents.

My guess is no. They need someone more reliable to give them innings. Unfortunately with his injury history they can’t count on getting that from him. Some team capable of taking that gamble may luck out but the Sox simply can’t take that chance.

Justin Turner, Adam Duvall, Justin Garza, Corey Kluber, Adalberto Mondesi, Joely Rodriguez and James Paxton all elected free agency.
Wikelman Gonzalez and Luis Perales were added to the 40-man roster to protect them from the Rule 5 draft.
Logan Gillespie was claimed off waivers by the San Diego Padres.
