Rob Gronkowski plans to sign a ceremonial one-day contract with the New England Patriots on Wednesday so he can "retire as a Patriot for life," fulfilling the wish of a close friend who died of cancer earlier this month.

The ceremonial contract was suggested by local philanthropist Susan Hurley, with whom Gronkowski developed a close friendship through his extensive charity work in New England. In August, when Gronkowski unveiled a new playground in Boston to which he donated $1.8 million, he said it was inspired by Hurley. On that day, Hurley asked, "Can we just make it official and sign him for a day so he can retire as a Patriot?"

Hurley lost a courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Nov. 1. She was 62.

I personally knew Susan Hurley. She lived near my family and very active in the community. She was also involved in the Martin Richard Foundation. To say her life is a huge loss is an understatement. She was someone you thought would be around forever, always making her mark and making a difference. I love that Gronk is doing this. She would be so incredibly happy.
 
I did some reading about her after seeing this Gronk article, she sounded like such an incredible woman. May she rest in eternal peace.

Gronk is a big man with an even bigger heart!

I'm going to the Gronk Bowl. But I don't think Arizona is going to be there. They are playing great football and a better bowl game has to be elsewhere besides that LA Gronk Bowl still relatively new. I am hoping Washington Huskies be the replacement.

During the LA Bowl there was a promotion of Gronk Fitness display.
I hope that Gronk Fitness is promoted as a nationwide kids and folks to stay in shape.
