Calipari slams talk of expanded NCAA tournament

Kentucky coach John Calipari urged officials to keep the NCAA tournament from ballooning past its current 68-team format, saying, "Don't mess with something that's great."

Instead of expanding one change they should consider is changing how they do things for conferences that have these surprise bid stealing teams who win their conference tournament when they otherwise would never make the field. In those cases the team that gets knocked out of the tournament shouldn't just be one of the bubble teams, but should be the most marginal team from that conference. So for instance, NC State winning the ACC tournament would have knocked Clemson or Virginia out of the field, not some team from another conference.
